Translation by Professor Peter Schalk The
Day of the Great Heroes Manual. (On the inside cover) [Preface by Veluppillai Pirapakaran] Our history of heroic liberation has been written with the blood of these great heroes. Their passing away are not losses without meaning. The deaths of these heroes have become the power that move forward even our history, the life-breath of our struggle, (and the deaths) that create anger have been joined with a power that thrusts forward the assurance of our fighters. These great heroes do not die in time; (they are) artisans of independence, heroic maravars who have sown the seeds for the rise of a very great liberation [struggle] in our soil. These magnificent persons who give themselves ( who are those who abandon [[life]), who have given up their sweet life for the independence, for the honour and the security of our community, are those who should be worshipped in temples of our hearts throughout the ages. A liberation hero is not an ordinary human being living an ordinary life; he is an idealist; he lives for a lofty aim; he lives for others without living for himself; he lives for the day-break and happiness of others. His life without selfishness and without attachment is unique. There is a meaning. He is determined to dedicate even his life for the eminent aim of independence. So, liberation heroes are rare human beings; extra-ordinary beings. The thirst of the Tigers is Motherland Tamililam. Ve. Pirapakaran
