US should help defeat LTTE

The international community lead by the USA should help to defeat Tiger terrorists as it is their responsibility and duty said Comrade Wimal Weerawansa, Information Secretary of the JVP to American Ambassador.

Mr. Robert O Blake, American Ambassador in Sri Lanka met Mr. Weerawansa at JVP Head Office at Pelawatta yesterday morning. The meeting had been arranged on a request by the American Ambassador.

The economy, fraud and malpractices and defense in Sri Lanka have been the topics of discussion at the meeting.

The American Ambassador has said if the government forces attacked Killinochchi there would be a big devastation. Saying that defeating tiger organization militarily was impossible Mr. Robert O. Blake had said that the most suitable solution for the national question in Sri Lanka was negotiations.

Comrade Weerawansa has rejected the claim by the American Ambassador that Tigers couldn�t be defeated and had pointed out that Security Forces have the capability of defeating Tiger terrorists. He had reiterated that Security Forces had proved this by liberating Eastern Province from the Tiger grip.
