(FeTNA),
The Tamil Sangam of Greater Washington and other Tamil Organizations
in USA and abroad are collaborating to conduct the
International Thirukkural Conference during July 8-10, 2005 in the
Washington D. C. area. Dr. V. C. Kulandaisamy, formerly vice chancellor
of several universities in India, Tamil scholar, author of books on
Thirukkural and recipient of Padma Sri Award has kindly consented to be
the Honorary Chairman and the keynote speaker for the Conference.
Researchers specializing in Thirukkural and Tamil scholars from India,
UK, USA, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and other countries will
be participating in this conference." About the Conference:
Over the course of the civilized human history, there have been a number
of philosophers, saints and social and religious leaders around the
world who have pondered over the meaning of life, the nature of truth,
the existence of God, the ethical code of conduct, intricacies of human
emotions and other intriguing questions. Their answers vary depending
upon their religious beliefs, national origin and the time period in
which they lived. It is unusual to find one book, written by one person
that has explored almost all aspects of life and arrived at conclusions
that are universally and eternally valid. Thiruvalluvar lived about 2000
years ago in Tamil Nadu, meaning the land of Tamils, currently one of
the states in the southern part of India. Thiruvalluvar was a unique
genius who wrote the book called Muppaal, later known as
Thirukkural
which has been hailed by many as the greatest gift to mankind.
In many respects, Thiruvalluvar is more comprehensive and covers the
whole spectrum of human experiences than the well-known philosophers
like Buddha, Confucius, Aristotle, Plato, Machiavelli and others. In
spite of the remarkable nature of his contribution, Thiruvalluvar is
relatively unknown outside his native land.
The objective of this conference is to create an awareness and
understanding of Thiruvalluvar and Thirukkural among the younger
generation Indians and people of other cultures in North America. This
is also the first time a conference of this nature is being held in
North America. It is expected that many Tamil Scholars and Thirukkural
researchers will participate in this conference from many countries in
the world.
The objectives of this Conference are:
To understand how Thirukkural can be a guide to humanity.
To create and promote awareness of Thirukkural in USA among
Americans and the youth of Indian origin.
To compare Thiruvalluvar with other philosophers of the world.

வட அமெரிக்கத் தமிழ் சங்கப் பேரவை(FeTNA), வாசிங்டன் டிசி
தமிழ்ச் சங்கம், மற்றும் பிற தமிழ் அமைப்புகள் இணைந்து இந்த
திருக்குறள் மாநாட்டை கொலம்பியா, மேரிலாந்தில்
நடத்தவிருக்கின்றன. முனைவர் வா.சே. குழந்தைசாமி - பல
பல்கலைக்கழகங்களின் முன்னாள் துணை வேந்தர், வாழும் வள்ளுவம்
என்ற புத்தகத்திற்காக சாகித்திய அகாடமி விருது பெற்றவர்,
பத்மஸ்ரீ விருது பெற்றவர், மாநாட்டுக்குத் தலைமை தாங்குகிறார்.
அமெரிக்கா, ஐரோப்பா, ஐக்கிய ராஜியம், ஆஸ்திரேலியா, மலேசியா,
சிங்கப்பூர் போன்ற நாடுகளில் இருந்து ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்களும்,
தமிழ் உணர்வாளர்களும் இந்த மாநாட்டில் கலந்து கொள்கிறார்கள்.
இந்தச் செய்தியை உலகெங்கும் வாழும் தமிழ் அன்பர்களுடன்
பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளவே இந்த வலைப் பதிவு தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

பன்னாட்டு திருக்குறள் மாநாடு உருவான கதை
வாசிங்டன் டிசி வட்டாரத்தில் வசிக்கும் தமிழ்
உணர்வாளர்களில் முனைவர்.பிரபாகரன் அவர்கள் திருக்குறள் மீது
மிகுந்த பற்றுடையவர். திருக்குறளை ஆழ்ந்து படித்து அறிந்தவர். 2003
ஆம் ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் மாதம் முனைவர்.பிரபாகரன் ஒரு இலக்கிய ஆய்வுக்
கூட்டத்தை தொடங்கினார். இந்தக் கூட்டம் இரண்டு வாரங்களுக்கு ஒரு
முறை கூடுகிறது. ஒவ்வொரு கூட்டத்திலும் திருக்குறளின் ஒரு அதிகாரம்
ஆய்வுக்கு எடுத்துக் கொள்ளப்பட்டு, அந்த அதிகாரத்தில் உள்ள 10
குறள்களும் அலசப்படுகின்றன. பரிமேலழகர், மு.வரதராஜன், கலைஞர்
கருணாநிதி, Dr. S.M. Diaz, Rev. Drew & John Lazarus போன்ற
ஆய்வாலர்களின் திருக்குறள் பற்றிய உரைகள் ஒப்பிட்டுப்
பார்க்கப்படுகின்றன. இப்படி முதல் அதிகாரமான கடவுள் வாழ்த்தில்
தொடங்கி தற்போது வெகுளாமை வரை இந்த இலக்கிய ஆய்வுக் கூட்டம்
வெற்றிகரமாக முன்னேறியிருக்கிறது. இந்தக் கூட்டத்திற்கு கிடைத்த
வரவேற்பையும், பங்கேற்பையும் பார்த்த பிரபாகரன், வாசிங்டன்
டிசியில் ஒரு திருக்குறள் மாநாடு நடத்த வேண்டும் என்ற விருப்பத்தை
சென்ற வருடம் தெரிவித்தார். அதற்குக் கிடைத்த பெரும் ஆதரவைக்
கொண்டு, அன்றிலிருந்து மாநாட்டு ஏற்பாட்டு வேலைகள் தொடங்கப்பட்டு,
இன்று வரை தடங்கலின்றி சிறப்பாக நடந்து கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. இன்னும்
4 மாதங்களே இருக்கும் இந்த நிலையில், எங்களது உழைப்பாலும் உங்களது
ஆதரவாலும் இந்த மாநாடு பெரும் வெற்றியடையும் என்பதில் நாங்கள்
மிகுந்த நம்பிக்கையோடு இருக்கிறோம்.
