"..உலக வரலாற்றில்
எத்தனையோ உரிமைப் போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெற்றிருக்கின்றன. தற்போதைய
காலத்திலும் எத்தனையோ உரிமைப் போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெறுகின்றன.
உருவாகியும் வருகின்றன. இவ்வாறு உலகின் பல பாகங்களிலும்
நடைபெறுகின்ற, நடைபெற்ற உருவாகின்ற உரிமைப் போராட்டங்களைப் பொதுவாக
மேற்குலகம் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டதில்லை. மேற்குலகம் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளவில்லை
என்பதற்காக அந்த விடுதலைப் போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெறாமல் போனதில்லை. .."
உலகெங்கும் புலம்பெயர்ந்து வாழுகின்ற
தமிழீழ மக்கள் தமது தாய் நாட்டின் விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தின் வெற்றிக்காக
அளித்து வருகின்ற ஆதரவின் சக்தி மிகப் பலம் வாய்ந்த ஒன்றாகும். தங்களது
தார்மீக கடமையின் அவசியம் குறித்தும், முக்கியத்துவம் குறித்தும்
அவர்கள் மிக நன்றாகவே அறிந்தும் புரிந்தும், தெளிந்தும் உள்ளார்கள்.
ஆகவே புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழ மக்களின்
தார்மீக கடமையின் அவசியம் குறித்தும், முக்கியத்துவம் குறித்தும் நாம்
இன்றைய தினம் தர்க்கிக்க முன்வரவில்லை! மாறாக புலம்பெயர்ந்து
வாழுகின்ற, தமிழீழ மக்கள் கொண்டுள்ள வலிமையின பரிமாணத்தை வேறொரு
தளத்தில் நின்று தர்க்கிப்பதுவே இந்த கட்டுரையின் நோக்கமாகும்.!
தமிழ்த்தேசியம் என்கின்ற சொல்லாக்கம் குறித்துப் பல விதமான
கருத்துருவாக்கங்கள் தர்க்கிக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. இன்று சிறிலங்கா
எதிர் நோக்கியுள்ள அதிபர் தேர்தலையொட்டி சிங்கள பேரினவாத தர்க்கங்களை
வெளியிட்டும் வருகின்றன. உலகலாவிய வகையில் தமிழ்த்தேசியம் என்கின்ற
கருத்துருவாக்கம் அதிக அளவில் விவாதிக்கப்பட்டும் வருவதை நாம்
காண்கின்றோம். தமிழ்த்தேசியம் குறித்து ஓர் எளிமையான விளக்கத்தை நாம்
அளிப்பதன் மூலம் இந்தக் கட்டுரையின் நோக்கத்தை தெளிவுபடுத்தலாம். என்று
எண்ணுகின்றோம்.
தேசியம் என்கின்ற சொல்லாக்கம் வெறும் உணர்வுகளால் மட்டும் உருவானது
என்றும் அந்த உணர்வுகளால் கட்டப்படுகின்ற மனக்கோட்டைதான் அவசியம்
என்கின்ற கருத்து என்றும் தேசியத்திற்கு எதிரான தர்க்கங்கள் ஏற்கனவே
முன்வைக்கப்பட்டுமுள்ளன. அதாவது தேசியம்
என்பது ஒரு கற்பனையாகும். அதற்கு அடித்தளமாக, ஆதாரமாக எதுவும் இல்லை
என்ற உலகளாவிய ரீதியில் நீண்ட காலமாகவே தேசியத்துக்கு எதிரான
கருத்துக்கள் தர்க்கிக்கப்ட்டு வருகின்றன. கற்பனையான ஒன்றின் மீது
கட்டப்பட்டு எழுகின்ற வெறும் வெற்று உணர்வுகள்தான் தேசியம் என்று
தேசியத்துக்கு எதிரானவர்கள் கூறி வருகின்றார்கள். தேசியம் ஒரு கற்பிதச்
சமூகம் என்று பெனடிக்ட் அன்டர்சன் என்பவர் வாதிடுவார்.
இந்தக் கூற்றை நாம் முற்றாக மறுக்கின்றோம். தாயகநிலப் பகுதி இனக்குழு
வழிப்பட்ட ரத்த உறவிலிருந்து தொடங்குகின்ற மனித ஒற்றுமை அதன் மொழி,
பொருளியல் போன்ற பௌதிக கூறுகளால்தான் ஒரு தேசிய இனம்
கட்டமைக்கப்படுகின்றது. வெறும் அகநிலை விருப்பங்களாலோ கற்பிதல்களாலோ
அல்ல! மேற்கூறிய பௌதிகக் கூறுகள் ஓர் அகநிலையை உண்டாக்குகின்றன.
அதுதான் �நாம்�இ �நம்மவர்� என்கின்ற உணர்வு! - இவ்வாறு தமிழ்த்தேசிய
பொதுவுடைமை கட்சியின் திரு பெ. மணியரசன் விளக்கமளிப்பார்.
அதாவது உணர்விலிருந்து தமிழ்த் தேசியம் உருவாகவில்லை தமிழ்த்
தேசியத்திலிருந்துதான் உணர்வு உருவாகின்றது.
அன்புக்குரிய நேயர்களே!
தமிழ்த்தேசியம் என்பது குறித்து இவ்வேளையில் நாம் தர்க்கித்தற்கு
முக்கியமான அடிப்டைக் காரணங்கள் உண்டு. உலகெல்லாம் புலம் பெயர்ந்து
வாழுகின்ற நாம் ஒத்த உணர்வுகளால் ஒருமைப்படுவதற்கு அடிப்படைக் காரணம்
தமிழ்த்தேசியம்தான். இந்த உணர்வுகள் நமக்கு பொதுவாக இருப்பதற்குக்
காரணம் நம்மெல்லோருக்கும் பொதுவாக தமிழ்த் தேசியம் கட்டமைக்கப்பட்டு
இருப்பதுதான்.!
இதே தர்க்கம் எமது தமிழீழத் தேசியத் தலைமைக்கு பொருந்தும். தமிழீழ
தேசியத் தலைமை வெறும் கற்பிதத்தால் கட்டமைக்கப் படவில்லை!! அது நாம்
மேற்கூறிய கூறுகளால் கட்டமைக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது. அது கிடைத்தற்கரிய
தலைமையாகவும் அமைந்துள்ள அற்புதத்தைத்தான் எம்மால் விளக்க முடியாமல்
இருக்கிறது.
ஆகவே புலம்பெயர்ந்துள்ள நாம் இயல்பாகவே தமிழ்தேசிய இனம் என்ற
கட்டமைப்பில் இருக்கின்றோம். அந்தத் தேசிய இனத்தின் விடுதலைக்காகப்
போராடுகின்ற தேசியத் தலைமையின் வழி நடத்தலின் ஊடாக எமது தேசியத்திற்கான
கடமையை இயல்பாகவே செய்கின்றோம். எமது தார்மீக கடமையை நாம் முற்;றே
அறிவோம். அதன் அவசியம் குறித்தும் நாம் நன்கு அறிவோம். அதன்
முக்கியத்தவம் குறித்தும் நாம் நன்கு அறிவோம்.
ஆனால் ஒரே ஒரு விடயத்தை மட்டும்தான் நாம் நன்றாக அறிந்திருக்கவில்லை
என்ற ஐயம் எனக்கு உண்டு. அந்த விடயம் மிக முக்கியமான விடயமாகும்.
இவ்வளவு கடமைகளையும் அறிந்து புரிந்து அதற்கேற்பச் செயலாற்றுகின்ற எமது
சர்வதேச தமிழ்ச் கமூகம் ஒன்றை மட்டும் சரியாக புரிந்து வைக்கவில்லை.
சர்வதேச தமிழச் சமூகம் சரியாக புரிந்து கொள்ளாத விடயம் தன்னுடைய
வலிமையை குறித்துதான்!.
புலம் பெயர்ந்து வாழுகின்ற தமிழீழ மக்கள் சமூகம் இதுவரை காலமும் தம்மின
மக்ளின் விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்திற்கு ஆற்றி வந்துள்ள பணி அளப்பரியது.
என்று நாம் முன்னரும் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தோம். புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழ
மக்களின் ஒருங்கிணைப்பின் ஊடே மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட இச் செயற்பாடுகள்
காரணமாகவும், தமிழீழ தேசத்தின் மாவீரர்கள் காரணமாகவும் தமிழ்த்தேசியம்
தனது சுயத்தை இழக்காமல் எத்தனையோ சோதனைகளுக்கு முகம் கொடுத்துப் போராடி
வென்றது.
சிறிலங்கா அரசு மேற்கோண்ட மிகப் பாரிய இராணுவ நடவடிக்கையான
�சூரியக்கதிர்� காரணமாக ஓர் இரவிலேயே ஐந்து இலட்சம் தமிழ்மக்கள்
வரலாற்று ரீதியாக முதல்முறையாக யாழ் குடாநாட்டை விட்டு அகதிகளாக
வெளியேறியபோது எந்த உலகநாடும் திரும்பிக்கூட பார்க்கவில்லை. எந்த ஒரு
மனிதாபிமான உதவிகளையும் செய்வதற்கும் உலக நாடுகள் முன்வரவில்லை. எமது
மக்கள்pன் அவலத்தை, உலக மக்களின் கவனத்திற்கு முன் முழுமையாக
வெளிக்கொண்டு வருவதற்கு எந்த சர்வதேச ஊடகமும் முன்வரவில்லை.
�யாப்ப பட்டுன� - நேரம் அது!
ஆயினும் புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழத்தவர்கள் துடித்து எழுந்தார்கள்.
தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கட்டமைப்பின் ஊடே வெளிப்பட்ட தேசிய உணர்வு காரணமாக
புலம் பெயர்ந்தோர் ஆற்றிய தேசியக் கடமை எமது மக்களுக்கு அரு
மருந்தாயிற்று. புலம் பெயர்ந்தவர்கள் ஆற்றிய மிகப்பெரிய பணி அது. எந்த
உலக நாடுகளையும் நம்பியிருக்காமல் தமிழ் மக்கள் தமது பங்களிப்பினை
உணர்வு பூர்வமாக அளித்தார்கள். அது புலம்பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழ மக்கள்
தங்களது பலத்தை உணராமலேயே பங்களித்த விடயம் அது.
அடிக்குமேல் அடியாக �ஜெயசுக்குறு� இராணுவ நடவடிக்கையை சிறிலங்கா அரசு
ஆரம்பி;த்து தமிழ்த் தேசியத்தையே முற்றாக வேர் அறுக்க முனைந்தது.
தமிழ்த் தேசியத்தி;ன் மீது மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட சோதனைகள் அனைத்தையும் தன்
தோளி;ல் தாங்கிக்கொண்ட அந்த தேசியத் தலைவனுக்கும் அவன் பின்னால் அணி
வகுத்து நின்ற போராளிகளுக்கும் அன்றைய தினம் பக்க பலமாக நின்ற
காரணிகளில் முக்கிய சக்தி எது? அது எமது புலம் பெயர்ந்த
தமிழீழத்தவர்களின் சக்தி .அல்லவா?
�சமாதானத்திற்கான காலம்� என்று சொல்லப்படுகின்ற இக்காலகட்டத்தில்
சமாதானப் பேச்சு வார்த்தைகள் ஊடாக தமிழீழ மக்களின் தேசியப்
பிரச்சனைக்கு தீர்வு ஏதும் கிட்டவில்லை. அது மட்டுமல்லாது
�சமாதானத்திற்கான காலம்� தரக்கூடிய எந்த ஒரு நிரந்தர பலனையும் தமிழீழ
மக்கள் பெறவில்லை!! தமிழ் மக்களின் வாழ்வு இயல்பு நிலைக்கு
திரும்பவில்லை. இதற்காக தமிழீழ அதிகாரசபைக்குரிய ஆலோசனை வரைவையும்,
சிறிலங்கா அரசு நடைமுறைப்படுத்த முன்வரவில்லை.
உலகநாடுகள் தருவதாக வாக்களித்த எந்த ஒரு
நிதி உதவியும், வந்து சேரவில்லை. ஆயினும் புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழ் ஈழ
மக்கள் சோர்ந்து போய் விடவில்லையே? எந்த ஓர் உலக நாட்டையும்
நம்பியிராது கடந்த மூன்றரை ஆண்டுக் காலத்தின் போது தமிழீழ தேசத்தின்
கட்டுமானத்திற்கான நிதியுதவியையும,; தொழில்சார் நிபுண உதவிகளையும்
வழங்கினார்களே இன்னமும் வழங்கி வருகின்றார்களே இன்றைய தினம்
தமிழீழத்தில் பணிபுரிகின்ற புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழத்தவர்கள்தான் எத்தனை
எத்தனை பேர் அது எத்துணைப் பேருதவி தமது வலிமை குறித்து முழுமையாக
அறியாத போதிலும் தமிழ் தேசியத்திற்காக தமது வலிமையை புலம் பெயர்ந்த
தமிழீழத்தவர்கள் உபயோகித்த காலம்; அல்லவா இது!.
ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை கூட வராத ஆழி;ப்பேரலை கடந்த ஆண்டு
தமிழீழக் கரையோரப் பகுதிகளை தாக்கி மக்களுக்கும், தேசத்திற்கும்
அவலத்தை கொண்டு வந்த போது உள்ளம் துடித்தெழுந்து உதவிக்கரம்
நீட்டியவர்கள் எமது புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழ மக்களல்லவா! இந்த ஆழிப்பேரலை
அனர்த்த நிவாரணத்திற்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்ட பொதுக் கட்டமைப்பினைக்கூட
சிறிலங்காவின் நீதி(?) த்துறை புறம் தள்ளியபோது உலகத் தமிழர்கள்
அயர்ந்து போய் விடவில்லையே! அந்த ஆழிப்பேரலையின் வலிமையையும் விட எமது
உலகத் தமிழர்களின் அன்புப் பேரலை வலிமை கூடியது அல்லவா!
ஆகவே போர்க்காலமாக இருந்தாலும் சரி, சமாதானத்திற்கான போர்க்காலமாக
இருந்தாலும் சரி, இயற்கை கொடுக்கக் கூடிய அழிவுக் காலமாக இருந்தாலும்
சரி, புலம் பெயர்ந்த மக்கள் தங்களது தார்மீக கடமையை புரியத்
தவறுவதேயில்லை. தமிழ்த் தேசியத்திற்காக உலகத் தமிழர்கள் வீறு கொண்டு
எழுகின்ற போது, அவர்கள் யாருடைய தயவையும் எதிர்பார்த்து நிற்பதில்லை.
�ஒற்றுமையே பலம் - வலிமையே வாழ்வு� என்பதை அவர்கள் நிரூபித்தே வந்து
உள்ளார்கள்.
இவ்வாறாக தமது வலிமையூடாக தமிழ் தேசியத்திற்கு உறுதுணையாக இருக்கின்ற
உலகத்தமிழர் சமூகம் ஒரு சில விடயங்களில் மட்டும் தளர்ந்து போவது ஏன்?
அங்கலாய்ப்பது ஏன்? ஐயப்படுவது ஏன்?
தமிழீழ மக்களுக்கு அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கும் உள்நோக்கோடு உலக நாடுகள் தமிழீழ
விடுதலைப் புலிகள் இயக்கத்திற்கு அழுத்தம் கொடுக்க முனையும்போது அல்லது
தடைசெய்யும் போதோ எமது உலகத் தமிழர்கள் அடைகின்ற பரபரப்பிற்கு
அளவேயில்லை. நிலைமை எல்லாம் சிக்கலாக போகின்றதே, என்ற அங்கலாய்ப்பும்,
தளர்வும் உடனடியாக தொற்றுநோய் போல் எம்மவரைத் தொற்றிக்கொள்ளும்.!
இப்படிப்பட்ட அழுத்தங்களும், தடைகளும் அதிருப்தியைத் தரக்கூடியவைதான்.
இவற்றை நாம் கடுமையாக கண்டிக்கவும், எதிர்க்கவும் வேண்டும்தான். இவற்றை
அகற்றுவதற்காக நாம் முழுமூச்சாக உழைக்கவும் வேண்டும்தான.;
ஆனால் அச்சப்பட தேவையில்லை. அங்கலாய்க்கத் தேவையில்லை. ஐயம் கொள்ளக்
கூடிய அவசியமும் இல்லை.
அன்புக்குரிய நேயர்களே!
நாம் பல காலமாக தர்க்கித்து வந்துள்ள ஒரு கருத்தை இப்போது மீண்டும் தர
விழைகின்றோம். இந்தக் கருத்தில் உள்ள உண்மையும், யதார்த்தமும் பல
விடயங்களைத் தெளிவு படுத்தக்கூடியவை என்றே நாம் நம்புகின்றோம்.
உலக வரலாற்றில் எத்தனையோ உரிமைப் போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெற்றிருக்கின்றன.
தற்போதைய காலத்திலும் எத்தனையோ உரிமைப் போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெறுகின்றன.
உருவாகியும் வருகின்றன. இவ்வாறு உலகின் பல பாகங்களிலும் நடைபெறுகின்ற,
நடைபெற்ற உருவாகின்ற உரிமைப் போராட்டங்களைப் பொதுவாக மேற்குலகம்
ஏற்றுக் கொண்டதில்லை.
மேற்குலகம் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளவில்லை
என்பதற்காக அந்த விடுதலைப் போராட்டங்கள் நடைபெறாமல் போனதில்லை. ஆகவே
ஒரு யதார்த்தத்தை நாம் இங்கே உணரக் கூடியதாக உள்ளது. அதாவது
மேற்குலகத்தினைக் கேட்டோ, அல்லது மேற்குலகத்தின் அங்கீகாரத்தை பெற்றோ,
ஒரு மக்கள் சமுதாயம் தங்களுடைய விடுதலைப் போராட்டங்களை ஆரம்பிக்க
போவதில்லை. இந்த மேற்குலக நாடுகளின் அங்கீகாரம் இல்லையென்பதால் அம்
மக்கள் தங்கள் போராட்டத்தை கை விடவும் போவது இல்லை.
வரலாறு எமக்கு ஒரு உண்மையை புலப்படுத்தி நிற்கின்றது. மேற்குலக
நாடுகளின் அழுத்தங்களையும் மீறி எத்தனையோ போராட்டங்கள் வெற்றி
பெற்றிருக்கின்றன. அடிமைப்பட்டிருந்த நாடுகள் சுதந்திரம்
பெற்றிருக்கின்றன. ஒரு விடுதலைப் போராட்டம் பலம் வாய்ந்து - வலிமையோடு
விளங்கினால் உலக நாடுகள் சமாதானம் குறித்தும் �தீர்வு� குறித்தும்
பேசத்தொடங்கும்.
தமிழ்தேசியம் குறித்தும், அதன்பால் எழுகின்ற ஒருங்கிணைந்த உணர்வு
குறித்தும் நாம் பல விடயங்களைத் தர்க்கித்தோம். இதன் காரணமாக பிறர்
உதவியை எதிர்பாராது, உலகத் தமிழர்கள் தொடர்ந்தும் புரிந்து வருகினற்
தேசியத்திற்கான கடமையையும் தர்க்கித்தோம். புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழ
மக்களின் வலிமையின் பரிமாணம் குறித்து கருத்துக்களை தந்திருந்தோம்.
எந்த விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தின் வெற்றியும், தோல்வியும் அந்த இன மக்களின்
எழுச்சியிலும், வலிமையிலும், தலைமையிலுமே இருக்கின்றது என்பதையும், அவை
வேற்றுச் சக்திகளின் ஆதரவிலோ, எதிர்ப்பிலோ தங்கியிருக்கவில்லை
என்பதையும் தர்க்கித்திருந்தோம்.
ஆகையால் அன்புக்குரிய புலம் பெயர்ந்த தமிழீழ மக்களே!
எம்முடைய வலிமை மகத்தானது. அதனை நாம் மீ;ண்டும் மீண்டும் நிரூபித்தே
வந்திருக்கின்றோம். உண்மையில் உலகம் எமக்கு வெளியே இல்லை. அது
எங்களுக்குள்ளேதான் இருக்கின்றது. ஆகையால் வலிமையுள்ள நாம் எமது
வலிமையின் பரிமாணத்தை நன்கு உணர்ந்து, கொண்டு அதன் வீச்சை உரிய
முறையில் உபயோகிப்போம். அஞ்சற்க!

The World
is within You
The immense support rendered by the
Tamil Diaspora
all over the world
for the liberation of their homeland is a powerful one. They in deed
have a clear and sound understanding of both the importance and
urgency of their moral obligation. The scope of this article,
however, is not so much to discuss the value or significance of that
moral duty, but to highlight the power and potency of the Tamil
Diasporas from a different perspective.
In Sri Lanka and world over, many views have been expressed about
the term �Tamil Nationalism�. The subject is hotly debated by the
Sinhala chauvinists in the context of the upcoming Presidential
Election. By giving a simple explanation for �Tamil Nationalism�, we
hope to elucidate the purpose of this article.
�Nationalism is merely a form of feelings, built upon imaginative
concepts, with no underlying criterion to support� � Such
contentious views have long been put forward by anti-nationalists
around the world. �Nation is an imagined community�, Benedict
Anderson would argue.
We totally disagree with this notion. �A nationality is formed by
physical elements such as traditional homeland, the unity of people
deriving from their ethnic bonds, its language and economy � Not
from mere inner desires or imaginations. The abovementioned physical
elements create an inner condition, namely the feelings of �Us� and
�Ours�� � so explains P. Maniarasan of Tamil Nadu, South India. In
other words, feelings do not generate Tamil Nationalism; Tamil
Nationalism that generates feelings.
Though the Eelam Tamils live in all corners of the world, it is
Tamil Nationalism that brings us together with similar feelings. And
the reason why these feelings are similar to us all is that Tamil
Nationalism has been a common structure for all of us.
The same argument will apply to our Tamil Eelam National Leadership.
The Tamil Eelam National Leadership is not built in a vacuum. It is
formed by all the elements we mentioned before. We are just unable
to explain what a unique leadership it is!
We in the Tamil Diasporas, therefore, are a natural part of the
Tamil national structure. And we fulfil our national duty
spontaneously through the guidance of our national leadership that
struggles for the liberation of the Tamil Nation. However, the
international Tamil community that has a sound understanding of the
importance of its moral duty has failed to grasp one significant
point: the magnitude of its power.
As we mentioned at the outset, the diverse support given by the
Tamil Diasporas for the liberation of their people has been immense.
Through the coordinated efforts of the Tamils world over, combined
with the sacrifices made by the �Maaveerar� of Tamil Eelam, the
Tamil Nation was able to face up to many trials and tribulations
resolutely.
In October 1995 when the Sri Lankan Government launched the massive
military operation named �Operation Sunshine�, 500,000 Tamil people
fled the Jaffna peninsula, shivering from the aerial, naval and land
operations of the state forces. No government in the world either
condemned this action or offered any humanitarian assistance to the
refugees. No international media ventured to highlight
comprehensively this historic exodus of our suffering people. It was
a time of �Yaapa Patuna�!
But the Tamil Eelam people world over erupted with passion. Their
dutiful actions with abounding nationalistic feelings � exhibited
through the Tamil national structure � had been the panacea for our
forsaken people. Without depending on international assistance the
Tamil people arduously made their contributions. This was a
phenomenal service rendered by the Tamil Diasporas, incognisant of
their potency.
The Sri Lankan Government attempted to wipe out Tamil nationalism
completely through yet another military operation �Victory Assured�.
What was the prime force that was behind the National Leader, who
endured the tribulations of the Tamil Nation with the abiding
bravery of his cadres and crushed this prolonged military offensive?
Was it not the collective power of the Eelam people world over that
in effect halted the assault?
During the present so called �Peace Time� no solution has been found
for the problems of the Tamil Nation through peace talks. Not only
that � the Tamil Eelam people have not reaped any permanent benefits
that this �Peace Time� could possibly have offered. Their life has
not returned to normalcy; Sri Lankan Government is not prepared to
implement the proposals for the Interim Self Government Authority;
and the promised foreign aid has yet to materialise.
But the Tamil Eelam people world over have not been disheartened!
Without depending on any foreign country, they have been providing
financial aid and professional expertise to rebuild the Tamil Eelam
infrastructure for the last 3 � years, and continue to do so even
now. Many volunteers from the Tamil Diasporas � intellects and
skilled people alike � are serving in Tamil Eelam today. Even though
unaware of the full potential of their power, it has been the time
when the members of the Tamil Diasporas utilised their energy for
the benefit of the Tamil Nation.
Again, last year when the Tsunami hit the Tamil Eelam costal
villages and decimated the people and the nation, members of the
Tamil Diasporas extended their helping hand with warmth and fervour.
Even when Sri Lanka�s Supreme Court suspended the Post Tsunami
Operations Management Structure, the world Tamils did not recede
into inaction. For, the power of their love and affection towards
their brethren back home is much greater than the power of the
killer waves.
So whether in times of war or peace, or in times of natural
disaster, the Tamil Diasporas have not failed to fulfil their moral
obligations. When the Tamils world over arise in unison for the sake
of Tamil nationalism, they expect no mercy from others. �Unity is
strength; Power is life� � this they have proved time and again.
Why then the world Tamil community which firmly defends Tamil
nationalism, feel dispirited, downcast and doubtful in certain
situations?
When the world put pressure on the LTTE or ban the LTTE with the
view to coerce the people of Tamil Eelam, the uneasiness caused
among Tamils world over is significant. Anxiety and depression at
the situation getting complicated will catch us all like an
infectious decease. This sort of pressures and bans are, of course,
discomforting. We ought to condemn and oppose them and must work
hard to remove them. However, we need not be anxious or afraid.
Dear friends, we wish to reiterate a view point that we have been
putting forward for a long time. We believe that the truth and
rationale of our notion will help clarify much confusion.
There had been numerous liberation struggles in the history of the
world. Many are taking place as we speak, and many more are
emerging. In general, the western world has not recognised such
liberation struggles in the past or in the present, nor will it do
so in the future. But those liberation struggles did not fade away
because the western world didn�t approve them.
The logical conclusion is this: No oppressed people will commence
their liberation struggle only after asking the western world for
their approval; and no people will ever abandon their struggle
because the western world will not approve it.
History has revealed us an undeniable truth. So many struggles have
succeeded despite pressure from the western world. Many enslaved
countries have gained freedom. When a liberation struggle is strong,
energetic and powerful, the world will begin to talk about peace and
�solution�. The victory and defeat of any liberation struggle is
dependent on the resurgence, power and leadership of its people, and
not based on the support or opposition of any external forces.
Our power is great. We have proved it beyond doubt time and time
again. In fact, the world is not outside us; it is within us.
Therefore, let us realise the full potential of our power and use
its force in effective and appropriate ways. Fear not!
