"Braving inclement weather, a group of expatriate Tamils in Washington Metropolitan area sent a 3200 cubic foot container with medicines, tents, toys and clothings to the warehouse at the Norfolk, Virginia shipyard, destined for Tamils Rehabilitation Organization's (TRO's) Colombo office for distribution to disaster victims in Sri Lanka. "What started as a small scale effort soon expanded as families and organizations called in to contribute their donations and to offer their services for free," organizers of the effort told TamilNet.Despite forecasts of snow during Saturday and Sunday, the volunteer group met at the Hindu Temple in Lanham Maryland, and completed the final loading process..."
 

சுவிஸ் தமிழர் புனர்வாழ்வுக் கழகத்தின் ஏற்;பாட்டில் சுவிஸ் மக்களின் உதவியுடன் மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டத்தில் கடற்புவி நடுக்க ஆழிப்பேரலையினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட 1ää000 குடும்பத்தை மீள் குடியேற்றுவதற்கு உதவும் முகமாக 26 தொண்டர்கள் நேற்று (09.01.05) தாயகத்தை நோக்கி பயணமாகியுள்ளனர்.

இந்தக் குழுவில் 13 சுவிஸ் நாட்டவர்களும்ää 13 ஈழத் தமிழர்களும் தமது சரீர உதவிகளை செய்வதற்காக நேற்று பிற்பகல் 1.00 மணிக்கு இலங்கை நோக்கிப் பயணமாகினர். இதில் 9 பெண்களும் அடங்குவர்.

இவர்கள் பாதிப்புற்ற மக்களுக்கு உதவி செய்யவேண்டுமென்ற ஆவலில் தமது சொந்தச் செலவிலேயே செல்கின்றனர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

இத் திட்டத்தை நிறைவேற்றுமுகமாக இவர்களைப் போன்ற தொழில்நுட்பவியலாளர்களைத் தொடர்ந்தும் அனுப்புவதற்கு சுவிஸ் தமிழர் புனர்வாழ்வுக் கழகம் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளது.

சுவிஸ் நாட்டவர்கள் பலரும் இவ்வாறு செல்வதற்கு முன்வந்திருக்கின்றார்கள் என்பதும் இங்கு குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.  

லண்டன் தென்மேற்கு தமிழ் மாணவர்கள் ஈழத்தின் வடக்கு கிழக்கு பகுதியில் கடற்புவி நடுக்க ஆழிப்பேரலையில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்கு ஆழ்ந்த துக்கத்தைத் தெரிவிக்கும் முகமாக ஒழுங்கு செய்யப்பட்ட நிகழ்வில் பலரும் பங்குபற்றி துயரைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்கள்.
