WHEREAS the Central Government in exercise of the powers conferred by subsection (1) of Section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention)Act, 1967 (hereinafter referred to as the "Act") has declared the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (hereinafter referred to as "LTTE") to be unlawful association vide Notifications No.S.O.338(E) dated 14.5.1996, S.O. 632(E) dated 13. 6.1996 and S.O.460 (E) dated 27. 6.1996 published in the Extraordinary Gazette of India, Part-II, Section 3, Sub-Section(ii).

AND WHEREAS the said Notifications have been referred to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal consisting of Hon’ble Mr.Justice S.K.Mahajan, Judge, Delhi High Court, for the purpose of adjudicating whether or not there is sufficient cause for declaring the said LTTE to be unlawful association as required by Sub-Section(I) of Section 4 of the Act.

NOW THEREFORE, notice be hereby given under Sub-Section (2) of Section 4 of the Act and you are called upon to show cause in writing within 30 days from the date of service of this notice why the Association should not be declared unlawful and why order should not be made confirming the declaration made in the afore-mentioned Notifications. The written statements may be addressed and sent to the Registrar of the Tribunal, Room No.103, Block A, Delhi High Court Building, Sher Shah Road, New Delhi-110003.The notices are returnable on 30th August 1996.
